Concepts Helps Produce Third in Series of PSAs for the Campaign for Disability Employment

BETHESDA, Md. (Oct. 14, 2014) – A public service announcement (PSA) produced by Concepts, Inc., in partnership with media production company RaffertyWeiss, was unveiled at a White House event held today in honor of disability employment “Champions of Change.”

Who I Am” is the third in a series of PSAs developed by Concepts and RaffertyWeiss for the Campaign for Disability Employment (CDE), a multi-organization initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, that encourages employers and others to recognize the value and talent people with disabilities bring to America’s workplaces.

The PSA features nine diverse people with disabilities—some obvious and some not—sharing the many ways they describe themselves, from personal interests to family relationships to occupations. Among them is film and television actor, RJ Mitte, best known for his roles in AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth.” Concepts solicited Mitte’s participation in cooperation with United Cerebral Palsy, a partner in the CDE.

“It was our distinct pleasure to have ‘Who I Am’ debut at the White House in front of distinguished leaders who are advancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities,” said Concepts President Karen Herson. “We enjoyed every aspect of producing it, especially working with its nine phenomenal cast members, who truly exemplify the important message that disability does not define a person or limit what he or she can achieve.”

“Who I Am” will be distributed to television stations across the country in the coming months. The CDE’s first two PSAs, “I Can” and “Because,” were distributed in 2010 and 2013 respectively and earned millions in donated media time.
