Concepts, Inc. Secures Platinum and Gold MarCom Awards

BETHESDA, Md. (October 24, 2018)  – Concepts, Inc. received three MarCom Awards for its creative work in support of three U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) projects.

The Inclusion@Work Framework from the Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) received MarCom’s highest award, Platinum, in the category of Web Element, Microsite Information. The Campaign for Disability Employment’s (CDE) website redesign received a Gold award in Digital Media, Website Redesign and an honorable mention in Digital Media, Government Website. ePolicyWorks’ video explaining its online dialogue series received a Gold award in Video/Film, Government and an honorable mention in Digital Video Creation, White Board Video.

Since 2014, Concepts has supported EARN by serving as its communications arm as it works to operationalize ODEP’s employer policy agenda and build and maintain relationships with corporate America. As part of this, Concepts helped develop and promote the Inclusion@Work employer policy framework, which outlines seven core components of a disability-inclusive workplace, along with a menu of strategies for achieving them. EARN, which is managed by The Viscardi Center under a grant from ODEP, is a free resource that offers tools and information to help employers recruit, hire, retain and advance qualified people with disabilities.

Concepts, Inc. designed and launched the CDE’s new website to refresh the Campaign’s online presence and continue to effectively spread its core message, “At work, it’s what people CAN do that matters.” Funded by ODEP, the CDE promotes positive employment outcomes for people with disabilities by encouraging employers and others to recognize the value and talent people with disabilities bring to America’s workplaces. To date, the CDE has distributed three powerful award-winning public service announcements, “I Can,” “Because” and “Who I Am,” all of which were also produced by Concepts.

Since 2013, ePolicyWorks has hosted more than three dozen national online dialogues to engage stakeholders and enable the Federal Government to gather the public’s input on key policy issues related to the employment of people with disabilities. In early 2018, Concepts, Inc. created a two-minute video to explain how these online dialogues work and encourage participation. Also funded by ODEP, ePolicyWorks facilitates a collaborative approach to federal policy making that leverages Web-based technology, stakeholder involvement and real-time information sharing to shape policy and address specific barriers to employment faced by people with disabilities.

Started in 2004 and administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the MarCom awards receive roughly 6,000 entries from a range of organizations each year, including  corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers from throughout the United States, Canada and dozens of other countries.
