Internships

Concepts, Inc. is pleased to offer paid, hands-on communications experience to qualified internship candidates. Students will work directly with mid and senior-level staff to execute nationwide public education and outreach campaigns on behalf of highly respected government clientele.

With intentional learning goals, supervision and evaluation, interns will apply their classroom learning to “real world” experiences, enhancing their education while making meaningful contributions to the company.

Communications Internship

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have a basic understanding of public relations principles, either through course work or previous internship experience. They should have excellent written and verbal communications skills and enjoy working on social cause-related projects.

Students should also be:

  • Attaining a college degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field
  • Available to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during the fall/spring semesters or full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer. Business hours are 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work individually and in a team environment
  • Enthusiastic, inquisitive and detail-oriented
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA

Program Timeline

Spring Internship: January – April

Summer Internship: May – August

Fall Internship: September – December

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor and track media coverage
  • Organize clips and media coverage
  • Develop and maintain media lists and contact databases
  • Research social media trends and relevant news articles
  • Write content for social media platforms
  • Assist with project measurement and reporting
  • Research and attend conferences and events
  • Assist team members with strategic statewide outreach
  • Participate in team meetings
